By all accounts, the 2022 Canadian Open golf tournament at St. George’s Golf and Country Club was a rousing success. The crowds were plentiful and quite boisterous, at least to PGA standards.
Defending Champion Rory McIlroy won the event, once again. His win brought him a fat paycheque of $1,566,000 to add to career earnings of over $62,000,000. (He won The Canadian Open in 2019 – there was no 2020 or 2021 event due to covid.) McIlroy was serenaded throughout the event with chants of “Rory Rory.”
Next year’s tournament takes place at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto.
